The Hermes Lab hosts a full day enrichment class (9:00 - 2:30) every Friday at AHB Community School. This class is geared towards K-4th grade students; and is open to all members of the community, so you are welcome to join us even if your student is not enrolled at AHB. Students may register for the semester or the year, or may drop in for classes as needed. Registration is open throughout the school year, and we are always open to doing a free trial class to see if the program is a great fit. To register, head here, or to set up a trial day - contact us at

Due to popular demand, we will be continuing our favorite World Traveler unit for the fall semester! Pack your bags, grab your passport, and let's travel the world together! Each week, a student from the class will choose a destination from across the world, and we will spend the day learning about the location's geography and culture. From latitude, longitude, and climate; to language, history, art, music, food, current events, native flora & fauna, and traditions - we will dive into hands-on projects, experiments, crafts, science lessons, and insightful discussions to learn about what this world has to offer. Students will gain skills in geography, reading maps, and estimation; in addition to gaining a wonderful sense of world cultures, people from across the globe, and how different life can be from a tropical island and the skyscrapers of Dubai to the rice farms of Indonesia and the outback of Australia.

Typical schedule:

8:55 - 9:15 Drop off, Outdoor Social Play  |  9:15 - 10:00 Discussion, Project 1  |  10:00 - 10:30 Morning Snack & Recess  |  10:30 - 11:30 Discussion, Project 2  |  11:30 - 12:30 Lunch and Recess  |  12:30 - 12:50 Down Time/Quiet Activity  |  12:50 - 2:30 Project 3  |  2:30 Dismissal

Every Friday is a little different, since we will always be visiting somewhere new! Some days may be more animal and science based, some days we may dive further into history and politics. Some days we may get super excited about a certain style of art, and we'll just go nuts with it! We try to create a perfect blend of learning something new with trying something new, experimenting, and having social time to bond with classmates.

Our class relies on discussion and hands-on projects to learn; so we are open to all academic and artistic levels in the K-4th age range. We do suggest that your student comes ready to learn and participate, as that is how they will do their best in our classroom! We do not base our lessons on any state standards or curriculums, but instead, we look to enrich your student's education with worldly knowledge, a love for traveling and exploring, and a passion for appreciating traditions from around the globe. If this sounds like a great fit, head on over to our registration page, here, or email us at to set up a free trial day!
